A SkillBridge Approved pathway to advanced technology skills
Over 20 Years of Teaching
Nanomanufacturing Certificate Program (NCP)
Hosted by Penn State’s Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization (CNEU), the NCP is a unique collaboration aimed at equipping military veterans, as well as transitioning military personnel, with nanomanufacturing and new product development skills companies need to move life-changing nano-scale applications out of the laboratory and into the marketplace.
Modified from CNEU’s Nanofabrication Manufacturing Technology (NMT) Capstone Semester, students will be enrolled at Tidewater Community College (TCC) in Virginia. Lectures will be hosted and webcast by CNEU instructors. A hands-on component will be provided by Norfolk State University’s Cleanroom Facility.
Applicants should have a basic understanding of high school physics and chemistry

Nanomanufacturing Certificate Program
Have a Hand in Creating Your Future
As an NCP student, you will receive the most current, hands-on exposure available in nanomanufacturing and characterization technology. You’ll learn a new skill set that makes you uniquely qualified to work in the cross-disciplinary field of nanotechnology.
Reasons for NCP
Nanotechnology is a growing field
“By 2020, 70% of all new advanced technology products will incorporate nanotechnology…” M. Roco
Exclusive access to a powerful job network
You’ll receive industry announcements and job postings from high-tech industry leaders.
High starting salaries for graduates
Graduates have received salary offers of $55,000/year or more with either the NMT two-year degree or certificate.
Hands-on training with the latest equipment
Enter the workforce with confidence and the hands-on skills that employers want.
Continued Education Credits
Continued education credits from Tidewater Community College and a Nanomanufacturing Certificate issued by CNEU.
ASTM Certificate preparation
Graduates will be prepared to take the ASTM International stackable nanotechnology certificate exams.
What Our Students Say

The NMT course opened many doors that previously were sealed shut. Prior to taking the course, I submitted close to a hundred applications, which bore no fruit. After taking this course, I applied to no more than 10 positions. I heard back from four, with two face to face interviews. All questions asked to me were specifically about the NMT course. No one asked me about my AAS degree.

The NMT Capstone Semester was the sole catalyst for both my academic and industry careers. It generated knowledge, experience, friendships, and a mentality that are all still well maintained over a decade later. I continue to utilize information gained during that time on a regular basis. The hands-on skill set was vital for a smooth transition to both graduate school and industry.
